JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Tooling Technician in Tanner, AL. Our client is a leading manufacturer in the aluminum die casting industry, specializing in high-quality components for automotive and industrial applications. The Tooling Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting die cast tooling to ensure production efficiency, safety, and product quality.

Responsibilities of a Tooling Technician include:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on die cast molds, trim dies, and related tooling.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair tooling issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent part quality.

  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble die cast tooling components.

  • Operate lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment for precision machining.

  • Perform welding (TIG, MIG, Stick, or Laser) on tooling components as needed.

  • Assist in mold changeovers and tool setups to support production demands.

  • Document all repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve tooling life and performance.

Job Requirements of a Tooling Technician:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in tooling or machining.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tooling drawings, and technical manuals.

  • Familiarity with CNC and manual machining equipment.

  • Knowledge of die casting processes preferred.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIRED Experience and Education:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker, Tooling Technician, or Machinist in die casting, aluminum, or injection molding.

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.

    • Welding experience (TIG, MIG, or Stick) a plus.
