Tooling & Process Design Engineer

The Tooling and Process Design Engineer will support all manufacturing processes by utilizing solid modeling to convey part design requirements, machine component geometry, plant layout changes, and other manufacturing support activities.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise tooling designs for Core Boxes, Molds, Machining fixtures, Polishing and Buffing fixtures, grippers, test fixtures and other shop equipment.
  • Work closely with the Tool Makers and Management team to fabricate new and revise existing tooling for the reduction of scrap, modification for automation, and best practices
  • Lead design review meetings with process stakeholders
  • Interface with new product design team to optimize new products for manufacturability in the permanent mold casting process
  • Identify and initiate improvements to the manufacturing process and set-up processes to improve yield and reduce equipment downtime
  • Participate in safety committee activities and provide design support for safety improvements
  • Provide recommendations for process flow and facility improvements
  • Justification and project management for small capital projects
  • Participate in coordination and tracking of production samples throughout the production process

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical design or other Engineering Technology
  • 5+ years’ of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years’ experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
  • Experience and/or training with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read blueprints
