Therapist - COP (part time with Saturdays)

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Therapist to join our team of talented professionals in the Children's Outpatient program.

The COP Therapist is responsible to provide clinical services to all children and families meeting eligibility criteria for COP services. Services are delivered mainly in the office setting and include intake, psychosocial and other assessments, person-centered treatment planning, provision of individual, family and/or group treatment. The COP Therapist is responsible for collaborating with professional team members both from TGC as well as other providers or systems to integrate service delivery. Part time staff must work 25 hours per week, including Saturdays. Contractual staff hours will vary depending upon program and client needs.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct Intake Assessments, including all necessary opening paperwork (Psychosocial Assessment, financial and demographic forms, etc.)
2. Assess and document the needs of children who present themselves for outpatient services in line with Person-Centered Planning.
3. Provide individual, family and group therapy.
4. Provide parent education, coaching and training.
5. Work collaboratively with others in relation to the child and family including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, Wraparound facilitators, school personnel and other family service or support people.
6. Advocate on behalf of the child and family to assist them in meeting their needs and reaching their desired level of self-sufficiency.
7. Provide referrals for services and community resources as needed.
8. Assess client satisfaction and participate in program evaluation as needed.
9. Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings and case consultations.
10. Complete clinical records and agency documentation in a timely manner consistent with policies and procedures of the Guidance Center.
11. Work with other COP and Guidance Center staff in addressing unit and agency issues and student supervision.
12. Follow The Guidance Center’s professional code of ethics.
13. Represent The Guidance Center in the community in a professional manner.
14. Complete all required annual trainings such as Recipient Rights, Medicaid Grievance and Appeals, Person-Centered Planning, etc.
15. Complete 25 hours of training per calendar year specific to children or adolescents.
16. Part-time staff must provide 15 hours of billable service per week.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have a Master’s Degree or higher and be a psychologist (TLLP, LLP, or LP), licensed master’s social worker (LMSW) or limited licensed master’s social worker (LLMSW) supervised by a licensed master’s social worker, licensed professional counselor (LPC) or limited licensed professional counselor (LLPC) currently in the state of Michigan. Full license (LMSW, LP, or LPC) preferred. Or must obtain state licensure (LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP, LMSW, LPC, LLP) within a 60-day training period beginning on the date of hire, this period may be extended by up to an additional 60-days of training at the sole discretion of the employer. Failure to obtain licensure within the training period will result in the employee being unqualified to perform the function. Beyond the training period, all state licensure must continually remain active, in effect, and free from disciplinary action.
• Must meet requirements for Child Mental Health Professional within 120 days of hire.
• Must have acceptable MDHHS Central Registry and criminal background check clearance.
• Proficient with use of computer, (including email, word processing, excel spreadsheets, and databases, etc.) experience with electronic medical preferred.
• Additional requirements include: cultural competency, ability to work effectively with a diverse population, the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with children and families in a variety of modes of treatment, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other unit staff and providers, effective communication skills, and a willingness to be flexible.
