Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President for a port drayage company located in Virginia servicing local, regional and over the road destinations for pickup and delivery of Imports and Exports from/to the Norfolk/Portsmouth, Virginia Ports. A family-owned freight carrier built on the idea that a satisfied customer is the number one priority. This is not only reflected in their mission statement, but it also shows with our customer service.
The Terminal Manager will have overall operational and sales / business development responsibilities within the terminal location. Actively source and hunt for new streams of revenue. Prepare and distribute presentations, and proposals to customers and carriers. Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in the TMS system. Respond to customer inquiries and provide product information or assistance as needed. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of products or services to customers. Monitor and track sales activities, follow up on leads, and provide regular updates to the operations team. Create sales leads lists using company resources. Prospect potential customers through cold-calling and email. Create pricing for Drayage lanes (EX: Norfolk to Charlotte) and coordinate capacity with trucking companies through carrier relationships. Build shipments in TMS system and schedule container pick-up and delivery appointments - Manage the financials of your book of business. Partner with the Drayage Operations team to facilitate the end-to-end Drayage move and collaborate with all company departments.

Background Required:
  • Intermodal and Drayage operations and sales (asset based and brokerage) experience - 5 years
  • Knowledge of the Ports and Rail Yards in the Hampton Roads market
  • Business / sales opportunities and/or customer relationships within the Hampton Roads market
  • Experience utilizing load boards, finding shippers, customers, and carriers
  • Strategic & tactical sourcing & logistics planning
  • Experience managing company drivers
  • Supervision (dispatchers, customer service, drivers)
  • Experience in negotiating carrier and customer pricing
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • TMS Systems experience - 5 years
  • Location: Chesapeake, VA
