Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the RVP Operations for a privately held transportation provider

The Terminal Manager-Newark manages all trucking operations, ISO-tank depot, and P&L for 25 trucks. Manages all terminal departments; dispatch, company and owner-operator truck drivers, operations, truck and chassis maintenance, customer service, and billing. Ensure compliance with all company processes, procedures, and government regulations. Purchase inventory within company guidelines and budget. Maximizes the profitability of the business, ensuring desired performance achievement. Reports financial results and manages P&L to budget. Strong focus on safety as a top priority for all employees. Manages and maintains key performance indicators for the terminal and its employees. Directs and oversees consistent application of all DOT regulations and FMCSA programs. Coaches, mentors, and develops team. Ensures procedures, processes, and systems are in place to securely maintain accuracy of all financials, safety, and operations information. Assures customer service levels are achieved, holding periodic performance meetings with customers. Constantly attentive to growth opportunities. Engages in continuous improvement of business processes in partnership with team members & management.

  • Intermodal depot-terminal operations management (5 years)
  • P&L, budget, cost control, profitability
  • KPI’s & metrics reporting to measure success
  • Personnel management (10 associates)
  • Equipment (Tractors, Chassis, Facilities)
  • Driver recruiting & retention
  • Safety: CSA, DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, Hazmat
  • Transportation software (i.e., Fleetmaster, Cogyim, Trinium)
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Residence: Newark, NJ (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e., Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation)
