Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Telecom / Electrical Systems Engineer in the Reynolds GA area

This is a full time direct hire position with benefits.

Salary range: 90k to 125k

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to oversee the installation, configuration, and ongoing operations of our network infrastructure. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the efficiency, security, and optimal performance of our systems. The ideal candidate possesses a robust technical foundation, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer, design, test, and install new technologies, including network expansions, software releases, and upgrades.
  • Manage local-area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
  • Provide oversight for Central Office Technicians and Installers.
  • Develop, execute, and manage project plans as a member of the Public Service Management Team.
  • Monitor and analyze network performance across the organization's LANs, WANs, VoIP, and wireless deployments.
  • Plan and implement improvements, modifications, or replacements for network infrastructure components.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues and develop/maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan.
  • Optimize existing network performance and conduct ongoing assessments of current sites to forecast future network requirements.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of service delivery systems, including network diagrams, hardware/software inventories, troubleshooting procedures, and maintenance guidelines to support field and staff teams.
  • Assess network capacity and develop growth plans.
  • Engage and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure network products and services.
  • Assist Outside Plant and Customer Service teams in resolving complex networking and routing challenges.
  • Offer technical support and mentorship to junior engineers, surveillance engineers, and Field Operations staff; respond to technical inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Provide technical guidance for the operation and maintenance of microwave systems.
  • Contribute to the design, engineering, and service of CATV head-end equipment and signal delivery.
  • Participate in the design, engineering, and service of tower locations, including system build-outs, permit approvals (e.g., city, county, state, federal, and FAA), and ongoing maintenance.
  • Oversee the design, engineering, and service of public safety data and broadband delivery, including operations and technician supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 3 years of progressive experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • FCC license is preferred.
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of Alcatel-Lucent 7000 Series Routers, DMX fiber transmission equipment, Calix C7 concentration, FTTH, xDSL, GR303, muxes, DACS, and other standard central office equipment.
  • Familiarity with Arista routers, Cisco, and Nokia equipment is preferred.
  • Experience in Carrier POP/Data Center environments, including inside-plant cabling, cable management, copper/coax/fiber terminations, DC power plants, equipment installation, and support structures.
  • Proven track record interfacing with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and other vendors/service providers.
  • Management experience leading technical and support teams.
  • Knowledge of switch software and architecture, IP networks, SS7 network element configuration, and ATM networks.
  • Deep expertise in network architecture and technologies such as DWDM, Ethernet, TCP/IP, BGP, QoS, RPR, MPLS, VPN/IPsec, DSL, VoIP, ATM, Frame Relay, SONET, and TDM.
  • Experience directing the administration, maintenance, development, and implementation of policies/procedures for database security, integrity, and disaster recovery quality assurance.
  • Background in providing technical support to users, including customer service and end-user troubleshooting on various issues.
  • Availability for non-standard hours to handle deployments, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while delivering timely results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
