Technical Service Engineer

Position Overview:


We are helping our client, an innovative protection relay and power system monitoring manufacturer, in search of a Technical Service Engineer. If you are a self-starter, dedicated to customer success, thrive in dynamic team environments, and possess strong technical knowledge, particularly in Power Systems, including Power System Protection and Recording, then this opportunity may be ideal for you. As a Technical Services Engineer, you will be responsible for all technical interactions with our customers. Effective multitasking and time management skills are essential for success in this role. The position offers the flexibility of working from a home office, eliminating the need for daily commuting, depending on your location. Travel of up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by offering problem-solving assistance to current and prospective clients, as well as providing technical support to the sales team.
  • Cultivate and sustain an advanced level of technical proficiency in electric power system protection and/or automation.
  • Offer guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians, serving as a mentor. Fulfill supervisory responsibilities as delegated.
  • Assist customers in the application of company's products through onsite visits, demonstrations, training sessions, and remote support.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify product feature requirements essential for market success, communicating these needs to the Marketing team.
  • Provide comprehensive support to resolve customer inquiries and concerns, including creating application notes, presenting conference papers, conducting webex demonstrations, among other methods, in coordination with the Technical Services Group.
  • Contribute customer service insights for strategic planning and marketing reviews, addressing issues, recognizing service trends, and suggesting system enhancements.
  • Aid in the development and delivery of successful proposals for company's products, services, and systems.
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for customers primarily on technical matters.
  • Participate in training activities and assist customers with the installation, commissioning, and operation of company's products, both onsite and remotely.
  • Engage in industry technical meetings such as NASPI, IEEE PSRC, etc.
  • Provide input for manuals, datasheets, ordering guides, etc., to support customer understanding and utilization of company's products.
  • Support company's marketing, sales, application engineering, and development endeavors.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and maintain expertise in company's products and solutions through ongoing education, professional readings, networking, and involvement in relevant organizations.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality completion of assigned tasks within agreed schedules and budgets.
  • Undertake Project Management responsibilities for assigned projects.
  • Fulfill any supervisory duties as designated.
  • Perform any other assigned duties as necessary.


Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
    • Proficient understanding of electric power systems, industry practices, and philosophies.
    • Familiarity with protective relay application within utility or engineering settings, along with industry standards.
    • Hands-on experience with EMTP, load flow analysis, and short circuit studies.
    • Excellent proficiency in technical training, verbal communication, and written documentation.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
    • Experience in power systems protective relay and fault recorder use involving transmission
      lines and substations.
    • Knowledge of advanced communication protocols and communication system architecture.
