Position Title: Technical Sales Representative (TSR)
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact, field-driven Technical Sales Representative opportunity for a motivated sales professional who thrives in fast-paced, technically complex environments. Based out of a regional branch, this individual will play a critical role in expanding the company’s presence across a major metropolitan market and surrounding territories.
The person in this role will be responsible for driving new business development while establishing trusted, long-term relationships with mechanical contractors and general contractors who rely on fast, reliable climate control and power solutions. Success in this role directly impacts revenue growth, customer retention, and the company’s ability to respond to mission-critical customer needs during peak demand periods.
This is not a role for someone waiting on inbound leads or an inherited book of business. It is a predominantly hunter-focused position that rewards initiative, urgency, technical curiosity, and resilience. The right individual will quickly become a trusted advisor to customers by understanding their applications, sizing equipment appropriately, and delivering solutions that keep operations running when it matters most.

The Boss
The Technical Sales Representative will report directly to a regional sales leader who oversees the role and provides direct coaching, training, and ongoing support. This leader brings a background in industrial, logistics, and service-driven environments and emphasizes high energy, technical aptitude, and accountability.
The manager is hands-on during onboarding, conducts regular check-ins during the first several months, and ensures new TSRs receive ride-alongs, national training exposure, and close collaboration with operations and inside sales teams.
The Position
This role is based out of a regional branch but is largely field-based, with most time spent meeting customers, visiting job sites, and developing new opportunities. The TSR works closely with branch operations, technicians, and inside sales to ensure accurate quoting, equipment availability, and successful execution.
While administrative work and planning are required, the expectation is that the TSR is actively engaging the market, managing multiple opportunities simultaneously, and responding quickly to customer needs — particularly during peak seasons.
Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned):
- Develop new business relationships within an assigned multi-market territory
- Maintain and grow select existing customer accounts while prioritizing new business development
- Conduct in-person sales calls, job site visits, and customer meetings
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate HVAC and power rental solutions
- Size and estimate equipment requirements for chillers, cooling, heating, and power applications
- Generate and manage multiple quotes simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate closely with operations, technicians, and inside sales teams
- Track sales activity, pipeline, and market intelligence accurately
- Participate in ongoing product, technical, and sales training
Qualifications
- Proven success in outside, field-based sales
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn HVAC and power rental applications
- Hunter mentality with comfort operating in a predominantly new-business role
- Ability to manage high activity levels and multiple opportunities concurrently
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to spend the majority of time in the field
Education and Experience
- 3–5+ years of successful outside sales experience, preferably within HVAC, industrial services, or equipment-related environments
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Commercial or industrial HVAC exposure strongly preferred
- Experience calling on mechanical contractors and general contractors is a plus
