Technical Sales Engineer

The Technical Sales Engineer is primarily responsible for supporting the sales and service team. The incumbent will be responsible for providing innovative solutions in support to the sales and service team as well as creating reasonable and efficient engineering solutions. The Technical Sales Engineer will liaise with internal departments in order to improve solutions provided to customers as well as providing assistance and ensures new products are introduced to the market.

Once the customer’s project is successfully introduced, the incumbent will be responsible for the project management of the order, including coordinating the design, manufacturing process, testing, prototyping, quality, and project management. Additionally, the TSE will be a point of contact for troubleshooting applications. The incumbent will establish the root cause of issues and implement immediate action. The successful incumbent will provide technical support as well as coaching for all other members of the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the sales and service process;
  • Maximize opportunities for future sales in a prompt and effective manner;
  • Further develop customer relationships and continue to build a network within the customers’ site;
  • Support technical inquiries from customers and recommend suitable systems for their business needs;
  • Automotive mold and tooling design, utilizing CAD
  • Respond to technical queries from customers and sales representatives;
  • Support the applications’ technical review for resin specifications, gate locations etc.;
  • Analyze and recommend simulation analysis as required for the project;
  • Evaluate the results in order to recommend the best solution for customers;
  • Review, recommend and approve any change requests for orders;
  • Review the technical documents, quick start guides, and configuration documents which will be used both internally and externally and ensure accuracy of the technical information;
  • Support the Value Proposition, as created by the Technical Field Sales, when dealing with the Customer, match the technical solution with the project, understand the Customer requirements;
  • Provide support for Tech Review orders and technical inquiries of Customers, provide recommendations for changes with suitable tooling systems


Degree or Diploma in Engineering, with minimum of four (4) years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with SAP or an ERP is preferred. Pro-E or equivalent CAD experience is considered an asset. The individual should have an excellent record with Engineering, Sales Representatives and Manufacturing to help identify development opportunities and evaluate competitive products. Previous experience as Process Engineer or Industrial Engineering or Tool and Die Maker would be an asset. Previous experience with tooling as related to the injection molding processes is strongly preferred.
