TITLE OF POSITION: Technical Manager

REPORTS TO: Vice President Sales & Marketing & Operations

SUPERVISES: Regional Technical Representatives ( ~4 to 5)

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for providing world class technical service and support to customers for products and related services.
  • Responsible for communicating internally within all field intelligence, competitive trends and up to date information regarding customer projects and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Regional Technical Sales Managers and Regional Technical Representatives to coordinate technical support at customers.
  • A working technical and application knowledge of “core” product lines including Enzymes and Yeast.
  • Lead and Direct the Regional Technical Representatives to best support our customers.

GENERAL DUTIES/TASKS:

  1. Responsible for maintaining all technical support activity for customers within the assigned region.

  1. In conjunction with the Regional Sales manager is responsible for developing new business within the assigned region to achieve profitable growth.

  1. Coordinate meetings, training, and daily activity schedules for all tech service staff in the Region.

  1. Research and review accounts for accuracy; prepare reports and process customer requests; compile customer data; verify the status of customer satisfaction with Tech Team activities; have ownership of all Tech Team actions and responsibilities.

  1. Lead the team to diagnose and resolve technical process issues involving fermentation, enzymes, optimization, and troubleshooting activities.

  1. Stay current with product and industry information, communicate all changes and updates with all direct reports as necessary and or needed to provide world class customer service.

  1. Must be willing to become or have the skills already to be a content leader and trainer for Tech Team Reps for JMP analytical software systems.

  1. Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers, direct reports, the public and maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and proprietary information.

  1. Follow up on all assigned developmental projects as assigned by VP of Sales & Marketing

  1. Complete and submit all assigned internal documentation, including customer visit reports , competitive activity reports and others as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree in a bio related or technical discipline is required and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the starch fermentation or enzyme industry. Past Supervisory experience is a plus. Must demonstrate ability to communicate sound ideas and solutions intelligently. Has the ability to set, define, attain and maintain high standards for yourself, your direct reports and the organization. Position requires excellent teamwork, organizational and communication skills. This person must be open to change and be a driven, capable change driver and leader. Proven success, or the ability to excel in high paced, ever changing environment. Ability to consistently analyze process data and become an agent for change and improved efficiency and customer service. Individual must be a self-starter with a positive attitude.

Working Conditions

This position works from a home office within the assigned region.

The position requires extensive travel, up to 75%, to customer sites and other company related activities.

Must be able to work in an Ethanol Plant or Laboratory environment.

Must be able and willing to wear all proper PPE as required.

A valid drivers license is required.
