Role Overview

We are seeking a senior-level electrical engineer with broad high-voltage substation expertise, particularly across Protection & Control and physical design. This position will serve as a technical authority responsible for design reviews, engineering quality, client support, and mentorship across multiple substation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform technical and QA/QC reviews of high-voltage substation engineering packages.
• Review and redline P&C drawings, physical design packages, calculations, equipment specifications, and related engineering documentation.
• Cross-check protection, control, and physical designs to ensure consistency, constructability, and technical accuracy.
• Provide technical direction on complex substation design issues and support development of engineering standards and practices.
• Serve as a senior technical resource during client meetings and respond to engineering questions and design concerns.
• Support multiple projects or portfolios while coordinating technical scope, schedules, deliverables, and engineering priorities.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, power systems, and other engineering disciplines.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on design practices and technical problem-solving.
• Support Owner's Engineer assignments and independent design reviews when required.
• Participate in occasional site visits to validate design assumptions and improve constructability.
• Serve as Engineer of Record where appropriate and qualified.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive experience designing high-voltage substations.
• Strong technical knowledge of both Protection & Control and substation physical design.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing complete engineering packages and identifying technical or coordination issues.
• Ability to independently evaluate complex engineering problems and recommend practical solutions.
• Experience managing or technically supporting multiple concurrent substation projects.
• Strong client-facing communication and technical presentation skills.
• Ability to mentor engineers and coordinate multidisciplinary deliverables.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10%.

Preferred Experience

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, particularly with eligibility across multiple jurisdictions.
• Renewable generation or interconnection substation experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Substation Design Suite, or comparable engineering design platforms.
• Consulting, EPC, or Owner's Engineer experience.
