Our client is a worldwide leader in business intelligence and analytics. They have engaged ROSS (www.getROSS.com) to help them recruit an Intermediate or Senior Technical Consultant. ROSS is a team of People Specialists helping companies align their People Strategy with their business growth. We provide remote or site HR and Recruitment solutions complimented by leading edge open-source HRIS software.

 

 

This is a permanent position.

You will be architecting/designing and developing, delivering and deploying BI applications for our client's customers. You will work with their sales/presales team to grow existing business and win new business as the key technical resource.

Our client will consider both intermediate and senior consultants.

 

You will:

 

• Understand and translate client’s business requirements into workable technical solutions.
• Participate in application design and architecture.
• Install and configure technology and solutions.
• Plan and develop core application components, with an emphasis on BI (Business Intelligence) and ETL.
• Complete all levels of application testing and q/a.
• Prepare all required documentation (specifications, design, system, training).
• Install and configure our client's software as required.
• Ensure up-to-date knowledge in industry business and technology solutions, through self-motivated approach to continuous learning.
• Provide presentations, internally and/or with clients, as required.
• Mentor other consultants as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

 

• Minimum of 3 years work experience with datawarehouse, data cleansing, data modeling, data transformations,  BI tools, etc.
• Experience with external clients, in competitive situations (independent software vendor company or Big 4 consulting).
• Strong business acumen to understand client’s data challenges and able to influence them to the best solution.
• Knowledge of and experience with:
  • One or more databases including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, Sybase
  • a breadth of operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux, mainframe) and platforms (IBM, Sun, HP, Windows)
  • client server, and multi-tier environments
  • connectivity issues and protocols
  • job scheduling and event/exception management.
  • security, file systems, and common network practices
  • BEA Weblogic, Websphere, J2EE, web development
  • metadata management and XML
• Proficiency in SQL and Java.
• Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• University Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.

 

It will be great if you have:

• ETL software (Informatica, AbInitio, etc)
• Bilingual (French and English)
• Data Warehouse/Mart knowledge and experience is preferred, including knowledge of common industry approaches including star schema and ‘corporate information factory’.
• Knowledge of Unix shell scripting
• Experience with BI products and tools (e.g., Cognos, Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects, Information Builders, Generation5, MicroStrategy, CRM, etc).
