Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader.
- Full Time Permanent Contract
- 42 hours per week on a 24/7 shift pattern including days & nights
- Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
- Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
To lead the treatments teams to achieve daily targets by ensuring operators day to day activity in the department follow procedures, policies and deadlines and communicating between departments, employees and to senior management to overcome obstacles with the support of the supervisor.

Essential Responsibilities
Safety
- Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
- Ensure a safe working environment & practices are maintained and compliance to site HSE standards
- Will complete and authorise risk assessments, COSHH assessments, manual handling assessments and CAR reports
- Responsible for completing all accident investigations and approving appropriate actions
- Perform visual inspection of work area to derive a 6S score daily and ensure the work area is maintained to 6S standards
Quality
- Ensure that processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard
- Participate in both internal and external audits of the treatments processes
- Participate and lead the MRB process ensuring attendance and actions are completed in a timely manner. Will also be required to use problem solving tools such as 5Y and 8D and will be responsible to sign off the process when complete ensuring all actions are in place and stability is established
Cost
- Responsible for the up-keep of internal KPI measures such as SQDCP, output, DAWC and arrears to the production plan
- Manage and update TAKT boards, cell boards and PPM boards with operator and supervisor
Delivery
- Analyse KPI data and make informed decisions to get the desired outcome
- Liaise with other departments to ensure successful running of the overall plant To be involved in resolving of process problems in conjunction with the Quality department and or escalation to Line Manger as required
- Responsible for ensuring the production schedule is adhered to and be able make decision on how best to executed in line with requirements with the support of the supervisor if needed
- Responsible for the scheduling of parts through the treatments process line
- Ensure the standard work document and process confirmation checks are completed daily and auditing this process for compliance
People
- Responsible for recruitment and onboarding of operators /sprayers
- Identify training needs of their team and organise appropriate training
- Escalate and inform line manager of any employee relation concerns / issues which unable to handle
- Conduct performance appraisal reviews in line with company procedures
- Responsible for ensuring completion probation reviews for all team members. Ensuring positive and negative feedback where required is delivered in a professional and constructive way. All negative feedback should be accompanied by a support plan
- Responsible for participating and conducting in investigations
- Responsible for chairing disciplinary investigations in line with the company disciplinary policy
- Will be responsible for all absence management
Position Requirements
Academic:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English
- ILM level 3 in management or equivalent
Experience:
- Team Leader experience in a manufacturing environment
- 1 years Aerospace experience
- Experience in leading a large team
Key Competencies:
- Good verbal and written communication (passed numeracy & literacy exam)
- Excellent vision requirements (passed vision exam)
- Ability to read and understand customer specifications, drawings and visual aids (skills test)
