Tax Manager – Public

Our client, a Well-established CPA firm in the Houston area has an immediate need for a Tax Manager.

The Tax Manager will be working with Partners and Directors to help lead, mentor and coach team members in various areas of tax compliance and across consulting engagements.

Duties and responsibilities

Commitment to Client Service

  • Develops effective working relationships with clients and firm associates
  • Collaborates with others to provide quality service to clients
  • Engages in professional and efficient communication with clients
  • Leads client meetings
  • Develops intimate knowledge of clients and their business activities
  • Communicates with the IRS and other authorities in a professional manner
  • Stays abreast of current economic and business events

Technical Skills

  • Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrates basic knowledge of client’s businesses
  • Prepare/Review Tax Provisions (ASC 740 Financial Reporting of Income Taxes)
  • Consolidated Return Review for multi-national companies
  • Prepare/Review Multi-State Tax returns
  • Tax Research and Structuring
  • Partnership Taxation
  • International Tax
  • Federal and State Tax Controversy and Audits
  • Train and supervise staff, review and evaluate their work
  • Manage multiple clients, budgets and production goals

Leading People

  • Builds and maintains positive relationships across the firm
  • Contributes and supports new ideas on internal processes and client engagements
  • Promotes and exhibits work-life balance for associates
  • Effectively delegates responsibility providing proper instructions, monitoring and coaching
  • Conducts training for lower level associates
  • Manages projects by scheduling associates, tracking completion and managing the budget

Business Results

  • Gives feedback effectively to minimize repeated errors and apply new concepts
  • Maintains open communication with team regarding the progress of completion on projects
  • Participates actively in training and developmental opportunities, both as an attendee and as a facilitator
  • Manages all aspects of billing, including client inquiries
  • Develops appropriate fee quotes for new tax engagements
  • Utilizes computer applications and relevant technology effectively
  • Enters time daily

Qualifications:

  • Accounting undergraduate degree required, Master’s preferred
  • CPA required
  • 5+ years of tax supervisory experience is required
  • Advanced knowledge of Federal State and Local income tax laws and principles of individual and business taxation is required. International tax experience a Plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong project management and delegation skills
  • Familiarity with CCH Document and tax
Our client offers a salary of $120k - $140k depending on experience and full benefits that include M, D, V, 401k, Paid Parking and Gym Membership.
