TAX ASSOCAITE

Direct Hire role with our client south of Pittsburgh, PA.
Workplace Type: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 day WFH)

Key Responsibilities

Investment & Partnership Tax Support

  • Serve as an internal tax associate within an investment firm, supporting tax compliance across partnership and investment entities
  • Act as an internal liaison between the firm and a large public accounting firm responsible for preparing federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Coordinate the timely delivery of tax data, supporting schedules, and investment documentation to external tax advisors
  • Review completed tax returns—primarily Form 1065 and related state filings—for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with internal records
  • Ensure tax positions align with partnership agreements, investment structures, and applicable tax regulations

Tax Review, Oversight & Quality Control

  • Perform detailed reviews of partnership allocations, K-1s, K-2s and K-3s and investor-level reporting
  • Validate tax treatment of income, expenses, capital contributions, and distributions
  • Identify discrepancies or inconsistencies and collaborate with external tax providers to resolve issues prior to filing
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and workpapers to support filings and internal review

Entity & Investor Reporting

  • Support tax compliance for entities holding private investments, including funds, partnerships, and related operating entities
  • Assist in compiling tax information required for investor communications and internal reporting
  • Coordinate preparation of 1099s and related tax reporting requirements
  • Support corporate tax filings, including Form 1120, and related compliance activities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with accounting, operations, and front-office teams to gather accurate financial and investment data
  • Provide tax-related support and guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Assist with special projects related to new investments, entity formations, restructurings, or ownership changes

Deadline & Cycle Management

  • Manage multiple tax cycles and filing deadlines, including:
    • Primary partnership deadlines (March 15)
    • Extended filings and peak activity periods (August–September)
  • Track filing status across multiple entities to ensure all returns are completed accurately and on time

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • CPA Preferred
  • 5+ years of tax experience with a focus on partnership taxation
  • Background in public accounting or private investment/asset management environment
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Desire for long-term stability within an investment-focused organization
