TERRITORY MANAGER- PROCESSING EQUIPMENT
Grasslands Recruitment Specialists is recruiting a full-time, remote Territory Manager- Processing Equipment. This position is home office based from anywhere in Southwestern Ontario and will work for a leading brand in the seed and food processing equipment industry, generating new client opportunities through prospecting and building current client relationships via superior account management and after-sales support. The target markets include the seed and specialty grain sectors in addition to the food processing and consumer packaged goods sectors where their equipment is applicable.
This role is an excellent fit for those who have an active sales approach (hunter) combined with a strong after sale customer service orientation (farmer), who are excellent communicators, and have mechanical aptitude with knowledge of and experience with related agricultural equipment- or have a natural curiosity and ability to learn more about it. Extensive onboarding and training are provided for you to become proficient with the products, and you will be mentored by more experienced sales representatives and management to reach your stride. This Territory Manager- Processing Equipment earns a base salary of $95,000-$100,000/year DOE, plus variable opportunity. The first-year total compensation is anticipated to reach or exceed $125,000. Their expansion has included establishing a base of business in Ontario- their new full time Territory Manager- Processing Equipment in Ontario will continue this growth trajectory.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE TERRITORY MANAGER- PROCESSING EQUIPMENT
The primary focus of this position is to generate new client opportunities through prospecting and building current client relationships via account management and after-sales support. This will require a home-based office, and a vehicle or vehicle allowance will be provided by the company.
The Territory Manager- Processing Equipment identifies cross-selling opportunities and potential sales leads. This individual will draw on their agricultural background to build relationships, educate clients about product offerings, and understand and provide solutions to the challenges prospects and clients face. This individual will maintain expert-level knowledge of the product line and will assist in the equipment installation and demonstration process.
As the Territory Manager for Ontario, you will report to the VP of Sales, and will manage existing accounts and/or assigned territory by providing superior customer service. You will have overall responsibility for direct sales, with a focus on prospecting, account management and customer service. You will maintain expert knowledge of the company’s product line. You will meet and exceed sales targets or quotas to ensure maximum revenue and profitability for the organization. And you will provide advice on product installation and start up commissioning & training with the support of company technicians as required.
Three key deliverables are prospecting and account management (50%), sales process and closing sales (20%), and after-sale account management (30%). The successful candidate will shift focus from ‘hunting’ toward ‘farming’ as success is achieved, and as repeat business becomes a larger opportunity.
Regular travel throughout the province is required in this role.
AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY?
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years capital equipment sales experience and account management experience
- Agriculture background required
- Understanding of seed or grain processing industry preferred
- Highly motivated self starter, productive and happy working independently
- Proven communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Business development and account management aptitude
- Ability to rapidly develop technical knowledge to apply products & services (specifically cleaning, electronic sorting, seed treating/coating, & milling)
- Base of contacts in grain, seed & food processing industry in Ontario is beneficial
- Sales skills including prospecting, networking, relationship management, asking effective questions, selling value
