Survey Technician
Role Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Survey Technician to support surveying operations for civil engineering and land development projects. This role is a hands-on opportunity to learn surveying fundamentals, assist in field data collection, and contribute to survey deliverables under supervision.
The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in land surveying.
Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate basic survey equipment (total stations, GPS, levels) under guidance

Record field measurements (distances, angles, elevations) accurately

Assist with topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys

Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure proper operation

Document field observations with notes, sketches, and photos

Follow safety guidelines and industry best practices during fieldwork

Provide data to Survey Party Chiefs and CADD staff for preliminary mapping and drawings

Organize and prepare survey data for project teams, including engineers and managers

Participate in training and mentoring to develop skills and advance in surveying roles
Who You Are

High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field preferred

0–2 years of experience; internships or academic experience in surveying are acceptable

Basic understanding of survey instruments and data collection techniques

Comfortable using Microsoft Office for documentation

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Team player with good communication skills

Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather and terrain conditions
Physical & Work Environment

Ability to perform fieldwork involving walking, climbing, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs

Comfortable in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, sun)

Adequate vision and hearing for measurements and equipment use

Valid driver’s license required; travel to job sites as needed
