We are seeking a Supervising Mechanical Engineer - Critical Facilities to step into a senior technical and leadership role overseeing multidisciplinary mechanical design projects. In this position, you will serve as a trusted client-facing leader, Engineer of Record, and mentor guiding teams, setting standards, and ensuring consistent, high-quality project delivery.
This role is well-suited for an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in mission-critical, healthcare, or science and technology facilities who enjoys balancing hands-on design with team leadership and project oversight.
What You’ll Do
As a Supervising Mechanical Engineer II, you will act as the Engineer of Record on assigned projects and lead coordination efforts across internal teams and external stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for technical execution, staff supervision, and overall project performance from design through construction.
Key responsibilities include:

Serving as Engineer of Record on dedicated projects

Leading and facilitating multidisciplinary coordination meetings

Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating engineering staff

Assigning and overseeing system design and project engineering tasks

Establishing and maintaining design standards, specifications, and criteria

Participating in budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and workload planning
-
Supporting technical training initiatives and staff development efforts

Managing construction administration activities, including RFIs, field reports, bulletins, and addenda

Overseeing preparation of system analyses, options studies, and technical reports
-
Preparing proposals and administering project contracts, including additional services
-
Coordinating with accounting on invoicing and monitoring accounts receivable
-
Monitoring project communications among clients, contractors, owners, and internal teams
-
Contributing to firmwide technical committees and expert groups
What Our Client is Looking For:
This is a senior-level mechanical engineering role requiring strong technical depth, leadership capability, and experience delivering complex projects.
Required qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license

12+ years of experience in an MEP consulting engineering environment

Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role

Healthcare project experience (required)

Experience with mission-critical facilities, commercial, or aviation projects preferred

Strong hands-on design background with proficiency in CAD and Revit

Ability to lead technically while remaining actively involved in design and problem-solving
