Where you will work:
Located on the border of Idaho and Washington, Lewiston provides a host of opportunities for those who love the outdoors including fishing, boating, camping, and skiing. There are several social and civic opportunities to participate in including Boys & Girls Club, Twin County United Way, Lewis Clark Partners Habitat for Humanity, and more. Lewiston is in close proximity to the University of Idaho, Washington State University, and Lewis-Clark State College, as well as several strong K-12 school districts.
What you will do:
Leadership & Management
- Manage site reliability group.
- Provide a positive role model for all mill personnel in the area of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Provide guidance, instruction, and mentoring for the reliability staff.
- Provide periodic feedback to employees in the areas of job knowledge, performance, and development. Provide training, where needed, to improve employee skill sets critical to the success of the business.
- Manage equipment reliability to achieve the lowest maintenance costs for the mill.
Reliability
- Direct reliability prioritization, planning, and execution for the site.
- Prepare facility budgets and maintenance projects between contractors and maintenance.
- Analyze problems and/or trends in mill maintenance and reliability recommending appropriate resolutions to minimize production downtime for all areas of the mill.
- Champion the breakdown analysis process to evaluate major sources of machine downtime and create action plans to improve machine efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate corporate technology strategies with the information systems shared services group.
- Effectively communicate KPIs weekly and monthly
- Leadership role in the corporate reliability group driving system changes to achieve corporate reliability targets.
Managing through Systems
- Manage through systems: VA, Lube, Tanks, Equipment Precision State, etc.
- Lead reliability improvement efforts.
- Leadership oversight of the PSM mechanical integrity pillar
- Provide monthly reports to measure and follow up on work systems and reliability efforts.
- Effectively communicate scorecard progress reports monthly.
- Support a successful annual outage.
Safety/Environmental/Compliance
- Lead the safety effort for the reliability maintenance and engineering staff.
- Identify safety issues that may arise due to equipment modification.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment conducive to safe work habits, encourage employee accountability.
- Ensure the mill is compliant with local state and federal rules in the area of maintenance equipment
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in paper mill maintenance, engineering, project management, and/or production management required.
- A functional understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance programs, work order systems, and world-class maintenance systems is desired.
- Previous experience using a Computer Maintenance Management system preferred (e.g., JD Edwards).
- Must possess analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing experience preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Demonstrated ability to foster Continuous Improvement.
- On-call and available to work unscheduled hours as needed by the business
- Hot, dusty, humid, noisy mill environment.
- Able to safely move on and around equipment and mill property.
- Some travel, both day trips and overnight stays, is required.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment in an industrial environment.
