Substation P&C Engineer

Role Snapshot

Drive protection & control (P&C) deliverables for substation projects from design through commissioning. You’ll balance technical quality with schedule and cost, while coordinating closely with clients, internal teams, and vendors.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead P&C engineering tasks for substations, ensuring high-quality outputs delivered on schedule and within budget.

  • Serve as a key communicator with clients, project managers, designers, and other stakeholders.

  • Produce and review one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other substation drawings using AutoCAD; collaborate and mark up sets in Bluebeam Revu.

  • Plan work to meet milestones and budgets; proactively flag risks and keep tasks on track.

  • Generate project deliverables using AutoCAD and the Microsoft 365 toolset.

  • Perform engineering analyses and calculations related to protective relaying, control systems, and substation integration.

  • Define technical specifications, support equipment selection, and coordinate with procurement and suppliers.

  • Provide field support as needed, including site walks, construction/commissioning assistance, and issue resolution.

  • Uphold compliance with NERC/FERC requirements, safety rules, and internal procedures.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field).

  • Experience: 2+ years working on substation P&C engineering projects.

  • Toolset: Comfortable with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SEL AcSELerator, and Microsoft 365 applications.

  • Knowledge: Solid grasp of substation design fundamentals, protective relays, and applicable industry standards.

  • Skills: Strong organization, problem solving, and clear written/verbal communication.

  • Licensure: Desire and ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
