STUDIO GENERAL MANAGER

Boutique Fitness Studio Summerville, South Carolina

About the Role

Our client is seeking a sales-driven, growth-minded General Manager to optimize operations, elevate member engagement, and drive high-impact growth in a well-established boutique fitness studio. This is a hands-on leadership role for a proven boutique fitness operator who can rebuild sales discipline, strengthen the team, improve execution, and move the business steadily toward break-even and sustainable profitability.

This is not a traditional maintenance role. The General Manager will be trusted to operate with an owner's mindset, make sound decisions independently, and communicate performance clearly while the owner travels extensively. Strong, sustained results may create a longer-term opportunity to participate in profit sharing and progress toward an operating partner arrangement, subject to a mutually agreed structure.

What Success Looks Like: First 6-12 Months

  • Rapid assessment and stabilization: Within the first 30 days, evaluate the team, sales process, lead pipeline, staffing, schedules, operating controls, and member experience; identify immediate priorities and present a strategic growth plan.
  • Measurable revenue and membership improvement: Establish weekly performance targets and produce consistent month-over-month progress in accelerated revenue growth and maximized long-term profitability.
  • A disciplined sales engine: Ensure every lead receives fast, consistent follow-up, supported by appropriate automation outside staffed hours. Restore the coach-to-front-desk handoff, improve closing performance, and convert prospects into memberships or class packs rather than allowing qualified traffic to leave without a next step.
  • A stronger, accountable team: Quickly determine who can be developed, upskill the team and recruit top-tier sales talent as we scale. Train front-desk staff as sales professionals, reinforce the franchise playbook, and add dedicated sales capacity as growth supports it.
  • New and underdeveloped revenue streams: Build profitable personal training or small-group strength programs during underused hours and improve revenue from class packs, First Form retail products, InBody assessments, and nutrition-related offerings where appropriate.
  • Local market reengagement: Use social media, community outreach, B2B partnerships, referral activity, and the studio's established prospect database to create a dependable flow of qualified leads and reintroduce the studio to the Summerville market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales and revenue growth: Lead from the front, own membership and ancillary sales, coach the team on needs-based selling, and maintain clear accountability for appointments, show rates, conversions, retention, and revenue by source.
  • Marketing and lead management: Manage local social media, email outreach, promotions, partnerships, events, referrals, and CRM follow-up so leads are contacted promptly and consistently moved through the sales process.
  • Team leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and hold accountable a high-performing team of sales associates and fitness coaches. Build a culture of integrity, urgency, teamwork, and member service.
  • Programs and member value: Develop offerings that fit the franchise model and local demand, including small-group training, personal training, class packs, retail, and related wellness services.
  • Operations and member experience: Oversee day-to-day studio operations, staff coverage, cleanliness, equipment, class quality, and a premium, high-energy member experience.
  • Financial and administrative control: Manage Mariana Tek, payroll, budgeting, cash controls, hiring documentation, I-9/E-Verify requirements, and KPI reporting. Ensure every transaction, training package, and payment is recorded accurately and transparently.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven boutique fitness performance: Demonstrated success scaling membership growth and driving sales conversion, retention, and local presence. Franchise-studio experience is strongly preferred.
  • Sales-first leadership: A documented record of personally driving sales and building teams that consistently follow up, close, and retain members.
  • Fitness and programming fluency: Enough hands-on fitness knowledge to lead coaches, develop small-group or personal-training programs, and maintain credibility with members and staff. Direct coaching experience is preferred; familiarity with nutrition and InBody assessments is a plus.
  • Independent operating ability: Highly accountable, organized, and comfortable making decisions without day-to-day owner supervision while providing concise, consistent performance reporting.
  • Integrity and judgment: A strong record of ethical leadership, disciplined financial and administrative practices, and responsible handling of member and company funds.
  • Flexibility: Available during the hours that matter most to the business, including selected early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Compensation and Opportunity

  • Base salary: $60,000-$65,000, based on experience.
  • Performance opportunity: Potential profit-sharing or performance incentive tied to sustained profitability and studio growth; the final structure will be defined before hire.
  • Long-term growth: The opportunity to earn consideration for an operating partner or similar long-term arrangement based on results, tenure, and mutual fit, and to help shape future locations as the business grows.
  • Additional benefits: Free workouts and official studio gear.

This is an opportunity for a proven studio leader to take real ownership of a business, produce a visible turnaround, and build meaningful long-term value.
