The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team. This role offers a mix of hands-on accounting work, client interaction, and exposure to a variety of engagements, making it ideal for someone looking to build on their public accounting experience in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end compilation engagements and support review and audit engagements
- Perform bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients
- Prepare and file GST/HST and other sales tax returns
- Manage multiple engagements, tracking deadlines and outstanding client information
- Communicate with clients to obtain required documentation and resolve discrepancies
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree or college diploma in Accounting or related field
- CPA designation is an asset; must be eligible or actively pursuing
- 2+ years of experience in a public accounting firm
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with CaseWare, Taxprep, QuickBooks (Online/Desktop), and CCH iFirm is an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
