We have partnered with a growing construction company based in the Charlotte, NC area specializing in commercial projects across the Carolinas. The team values integrity, collaboration, and quality. We are looking for a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting operations and help keep the financial processes running smoothly.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in day‑to‑day accounting activities, job cost tracking, and financial reporting. This position requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor invoices and customer billings

  • Assist with job cost accounting, including tracking labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules

  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements

  • Support payroll processing and verify job‑site labor allocations

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and construction industry requirements

  • Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and year‑end close

  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project financials

  • Perform other accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience (construction industry experience preferred)

  • Strong understanding of GAAP

  • Experience with job cost accounting and WIP schedules is a plus

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, QuickBooks, or similar)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
