Staff Accountant High-Growth Multi-State Industrial Leader

Location: Southwest Chicago Suburbs - 100% In Office

Compensation: $60k – $75k + Performance Bonus & Comprehensive Benefits

Sector: Specialized Industrial Distribution & Logistics

The Opportunity: A "Step-Up" Role for a High-Aptitude Professional

Our client is a privately-held, rapidly scaling leader within the specialized industrial and environmental services sector. Operating in the mid-market space with a lean, high-impact team, they are looking for a Staff Accountant who is ready to advance from basic processing into full-scale financial ownership.

This is a strategic career move for a professional with 1–3+ years of experience who is ready to move beyond AP/AR and take full command of the month-end close process under the mentorship of a veteran Controller and accounting team.

The Vibe & Culture

This is a high-energy, "no-ego" environment with a "work hard, play hard" mentality. The office is vibrant and straightforward; leadership is hands-on, fostering a culture where the team moves with a shared sense of urgency and often collaborates over group lunches. If you have "thick skin," a high motor, and thrive in a fast-paced setting where daily pivots are the norm, you will excel here.

Key Responsibilities & Impact

Reporting directly to the Controller, you will be a "Day 1" contributor responsible for the financial integrity of a complex, multi-state operation.

  • Full-Cycle Month-End: Take ownership of the month-end close, including journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and General Ledger maintenance.

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in drafting consolidated internal financial statements, including P&L and Balance Sheet analysis.

  • Treasury & Cash Management: Prepare regular bank reconciliations and monitor credit lines to ensure precise liquidity tracking.

  • Variance Analysis: Utilize Excel to analyze account fluctuations and surface actionable insights for the executive team.

  • Audit & Compliance: Serve as a key point of contact for year-end filings, external audits, and tax documentation prep.

The Ideal Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required; a rock-solid grasp of GAAP is non-negotiable.

  • Experience: 1–3+ years of professional accounting experience with direct exposure to the month-end close cycle.

  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables) is essential for data manipulation.

  • Mindset: A proactive self-starter who takes immense pride in their work product and can manage competing priorities with surgical attention to detail.

Why Join This Team?

  • Premier Workspace: Work out of a brand-new, state-of-the-art headquarters with a modern, casual dress code.

  • Visibility: In this lean organization, your work is noticed by leadership and stakeholders on a daily basis, providing a clear path for professional growth as the company scales.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Includes PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and a 401(k) plan.

  • Stability: A reliable 8 - 5 type schedule within a supportive and inclusive culture.
