Our client, a diverse holding company with a long track record of success in the DC market and one of the area's premier corporations, is seeking a Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting.

The Staff Accountant will be part of the corporate accounting team with responsibility for day-to-day financial activities and will have significant interaction with other corporate office departments (tax, treasury, human resources, risk management, business development, legal, etc.), business units, consultants, and external auditors. This position requires a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, spreadsheets, and technology in general and will report to the Manager of Corporate Accounting.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with team members to complete the monthly close process including, but not limited to, journal entries, intercompany invoices, account reconciliations, internal management reporting and submission of information to the Company’s consolidation team.
  • Prepare and code invoices for payment.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets for the corporate office.
  • Assist the financial reporting and consolidation team with preparation of the Form 10-Q and 10-K filings.
  • Work with team members to complete the monthly close process for the Employee Benefits Trust.
  • Prepare annual financial statements, external audit process, and tax reporting for multiple Employee Benefit Plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  • CPA or CPA eligible candidate with the goal of successfully obtaining a CPA license.
  • Recent grad or new to the industry with limited Corporate Accounting or Auditing work experience.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical ability and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines on time-sensitive projects.
  • Strong Excel and other Microsoft Office product skills are required; knowledge of data analysis and visualization products are a plus (Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, etc.)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently and as part of a team.
