Automotive Acoustics OEM Manager

Product/Position:

Our patented (air flow resistance) acoustic technology offers substantially improved automotive acoustic absorption performance for engine compartment, passenger cabin and underbody applications. These improvements can be shown as acoustic benefits, weight reductions, and system price reductions. The AFR OEM Business Manager, will work with the acoustic technical community, OEM engineers, purchasing and supply chain as well as manufacturing to understand and fully market this product. The key skill of the candidate is that he/she must be fluent with the acoustic science and technical terms, while being able to effectively communicate with the purchasing and manufacturing personnel. Candidate must be self-motivated and an effective problem solver. Facilitating communications between the customers, internal quality control and R & D are critical to maintain and advance the business. Additional skillsets:

  • Knowledge of the OEM acoustics engineering process including material standards, applications engineering and program management
  • Experience working with 1st tier automotive suppliers, balancing their need for technical and low cost solutions.
  • Ability to work with senior level Acoustic and NVH (noise vibration harshness) experts at a conceptual level
  • Ability to work with acoustic / automotive testing facilities to design and interpret various tests, reports, studies and technical papers
  • Ability to simplify complex information for communication, education and persuasion of supply chain and internal peers
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with sales/marketing experience
  • 7 + years of industry experience
  • Travel 30-40%
To succeed in this role a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics or Math, and a background in technical sales is desired. Knowledge of acoustics and NVH technology along with exposure to CAD and acoustic/air flow resistance preferred. Candidate will also need excellent communication skills and a faculty for conveying complex information in a clear and simple manner.
