Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Injection Molding
Our client is a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced materials and engineered components, specializing in high-value end markets such as aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductors, robotics, energy, and industrial applications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of injection molding, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; gathering observations from operators and leads.
- Develops and Improves manufacturing processes by analyzing product requirements; researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; working with equipment manufacturers.
- Lead the implementation and integration of automation technologies. Designing automated solutions to reduce manual labor and improve process consistency and throughput
- Assures product and process capability by practical and analytical methods; establishing standards; defining manufacturing process sequences. Participates in root cause and failure analysis as required and develops with the team root cause and corrective actions.
- Provides manufacturing KPI information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing standards and gross margin outliers. Evaluates and maintains time standards that produce increased productivity.
- Improves manufacturing productivity by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Evaluates existing manufacturing processes and workflow to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends from the floor and the MRP system.
- Validate tooling and processes through first article fabrication and inspections. Evaluates with department supervisors and others tool life, tool rework, and tool rotations.
- Conduct problem solving efforts and teams with timely and effective troubleshooting, implement productivity improvements, reductions in scrap and rework and waste elimination projects. Support Continuous Improvement initiatives, 6S, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Interacts with Design Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure design for manufacturability of new products. Participates in design review process, and acts as a liaison for products from inception through shipment to customer.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
- When requested, helps to train production operators and technicians in the manufacture of more complex parts and assemblies.
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.
Job Specifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Years Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of previous Engineering experience in an injection molding environment
Skills:
- Experience in liquid silicone rubber and rubber molding in general
- Direct Experience with MRP
- Possessing Critical Interpersonal skills so as to Function effectively in a Team Environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Lean Six Sigma experience
- Experience working with 3 axis robots
- CAD Experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish
