Job Title: Senior Electrical Estimator - Commercial Construction

Reports To: Estimating Manager

Job Summary:

As a member of our estimating team, the position is responsible for reviewing prospective work and evaluating opportunities for success. The incumbent prepares cost estimates for $100,000 to $15,000,000 electrical projects in a diverse array of sectors. Duties include viewing and understanding plans, performing take-offs, and working within the estimating database. The position works closely with the design team, construction leadership and regional and national GC firms to value Engineer projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills are utilized to effectively work across all divisions of the company as well as clients, vendors and subcontractors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attend scope review meetings. Provide conceptual estimates and budgets as needed. Work closely with the design team and client to provide value engineering.
  • Using seasoned judgement, generate accurate, detailed and well-organized cost estimates from provided documents and project conditions in a timely manner.
  • Solicit bids from vendors and subcontractors on outsourced work and evaluate them for completeness for scope of work, schedule, and other bid requirements.
  • Identify potential risks inherent to the project and foresee problems, being proactive in formulating alternative options. Applies broad knowledge and seasoned judgment when addressing complex issues and related cost impacts.
  • Communicate well and work collaboratively with others, including project team, General Contractors, Owners, and vendors. Participate in bid presentations and negotiate with clients to secure contracts for work.
  • Conduct internal job hand-off meetings with the project team to relay project details, cost estimates and plans.
  • Try new approaches to the job and implements new ideas to improve job quality.
  • Develop/maintain a network of professional relationships within our industry. Establish and maintain a strong relationship with clients.
  • Be an advocate for safety and promote safe work practices in all we do.

Qualifications & Experience Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5 plus years of experience in estimating electrical construction projects.
  • Will consider equivalent experience on a case-by-case basis geared towards a strong understanding of electrical construction and familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • McCormick estimating experience is a plus.
  • Design assist experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical data and translate it into accurate project estimates.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Organization, quick creative thinking, and the ability to balance and prioritize projects with impending deadlines.
  • Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
