In this role, you will build a dedicated Platform Research group with a therapeutically aligned focus. Absorbing existing findings in product delivery, you will relish the opportunity to leverage your strategic mindset and build a world class operation.

Our client is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial minded and operational leader of Platform Research to develop and execute innovative research strategies needed for our client’s drug discovery platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to design and leads implementation of platform research strategy to drive improvements and innovation to our client’s drug development platform.
  • Liaising cross-functionally with team members and key stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities for advancement in the drug development platform.
  • Provides scientific and technical leadership across Platform Research team.
  • Developing and implementing Platform Research strategies to align with our client’s overall vision and strategy.
  • Balancing and blending project risk in the Platform Research pipeline to maximize potential for successful outcomes across medium- and longer-term time frames.
  • Collaborating with the Project Management Office (PMO) to develop key timelines and milestones to track and advance, respectively, platform developments to support drug discovery and development.
  • Ensure a continuous stream of tech-transfer ready platform advancements to support drug development programs.
  • Support effective corporate reporting of performance metrics related to Platform Research activities and the identification and resolution of key issues and risks.
  • Remain current on scientific literature, industry trends and new technologies to support platform advancement.

Education: PhD in biological / natural sciences or related field.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in drug development at a pharmaceutical or biotech company leading projects involving cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in microbiology, virology and/or synthetic biology.
  • Experience in the establishment and tracking of performance metrics to measure progress and performance of overall drug discovery efforts.
  • Successful project management skills involving the development and execution of a clear vision for platform research, the identification and resolution of program issues and risks, organizational communication and operational support and direction to vendors.
  • Strong track record of scientific writing including the design of study plans and reports as well as working with vendors to generate appropriate documentation.
