Fusion Recruiters, in partnership with their client Regal Rexnord, is in search of a proven Senior Director, Operations. This collaborative and highly motivated professional will lead operations across multiple plants in the United States and Canada. These plants total a growing $300M+ business, with 400+ associates. This is a critical role to drive a growth-focused operations strategy & provides hands-on leadership to a cross-functional team within a very matrixed location. The Senior Director, Operations drives an operational excellence culture and best in class manufacturing operations.

Directly reporting to this position are management and professionals in roles such as Plant Managers, Production, Continuous Improvement, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance.

This position will manage the discipline of SQDCG (safety, quality, delivery, cost competitiveness, growth), to enable the plants to drive top line revenue growth and bottom-line profitability. The leader will develop and implement long and short-term strategic plans to meet the plants’ Targets to Improve (TTIs), drive significant plant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvements, partnering closely with the site management teams while supporting the application of the Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) which includes 80/20 methodologies and Continuous Improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence & Effective Problem Solving

  • Full leadership and oversight of plant manufacturing strategy and operations responsibility for the locations, leading all aspects of the manufacturing operations, facilities, planning, tactical purchasing, materials management, and associates.
  • Maintain a safe work environment that is compliant with all regulations, and drive environmental health and safety (EHS) metrics and continuous improvement initiatives that promote safety.
  • Lead the plant operations teams to deliver on the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Establish and sustain strong visual daily management, GEMBA culture, root cause corrective action, problem-solving, and lean flow, including regular presence on the operations floor with consistent attendance at GEMBA.
  • Set and achieve short and long-term SQDCG and financial objectives by supporting and driving the strategic vision by breaking it into actionable strategies and tactics. Direct activities across the plant, providing leadership to Production, Quality, Purchasing, Human Resources, and Finance.
  • Ensures accountability and enables the predictability of the outcomes of the plant. Determine true root causes and corrective action of delivery, quality or other issues quickly and effectively.
  • Drive CI mindset, with a clear future factory vision, to significantly improve productivity and efficiency across their plant and drive employee engagement.
  • Develops controls and critically reviews results of operation in reference to planned objectives.

P&L Leadership - Business Partner

  • Works as a member of the leadership team to develop and communicate a future vision for the business, creates annual planning for what good looks like, and coaches and develops a team via the Gemba process, with speed.
  • Partners with the plant leadership team on the overall plant strategy, supports the establishment of an X-matrix, and drives policy deployment initiatives, aligned to operations with urgency and a high say/do.
  • Responsible for synthesizing action plans, timelines, and budgets for project and product goals and adjusting these plans accordingly to effectively respond to fluent demands of the operation.

Talent Management

  • Develops high-performance teams by engaging, coaching, and developing team members, and by driving accountability and ownership at all levels.
  • Builds a team where all managers are proven talent, with a strong say/do and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Serves as an advocate for our top talent, developing and building strong succession plans to enable increased velocity, as well as be a champion of promoting diversity and inclusion in and across the location.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years manufacturing operations experience; including experience with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Safety, Inventory, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and/or related support functions in a manufacturing environment, including a minimum of 7 years leading and managing people.
  • Proven experience leading strategic business transformation and change management at the Director level or above.
  • Proven successful applications of multiple continuous improvement tools: 80/20, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Flow, Standard Work, Visual Management, & Problem Solving.
  • Strong communication skills, accountability, ownership, and a sense of urgency.
  • Expert operational acumen with strong financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead a site with a bias for action and a say-do mindset that works with urgency.
  • Critical thinking skills to properly identify problem areas & drive potential solutions, with a strong bias toward data-driven decision-making.
