Our client is transforming their Marketing & Merchandising IT area through the organization around their most critical products. They are looking to expand on our digital journey as they bring those experiences to life in the stores for customer and employees. As the Sr Director, Marketing & Merchandising Engineering, you will focus on enabling and managing a diverse set of engineering teams that create the retail portfolio of work. You will work with Product Managers, User Experience Designers, Architects and other team members to build products that align to the retail vision and execution strategy. The engineering of these products will leverage agile methodologies and DevOps principles to deliver industry leading solutions at high velocity with unrivaled quality. The ideal candidate for this role would have a unique blend of leadership, technical acumen and deep understanding of the retail industry.

The role will focus on the following areas:
  • Lead and manage all product engineering in the retail IT area
  • Build and lead high performing teams of engineers to effectively deliver strategic objectives. Directly hire, manage and develop an inclusive, collaborative and diverse team of technical professionals and drive employee engagement through innovative solutions.
  • Effectively manage third-party vendors providing engineering services, to ensure resources deliver contracted outcomes
  • Develop the technology to enable leading edge thinking around our marketing and merchandising experiences
  • Create quality solutions through the use of build pipelines, CI/CD and automated testing
  • Ensure a consistent use of established methodology and tools usage
  • Creates and presents technical architectures
  • Drives performance analysis and tuning
  • Consistently look for areas of improvement in development technologies and methodologies
  • Participates in strategic planning organization wide
  • Leads broad and visible efforts, company wide
  • Experience building teams focused on an engineering mindset
  • Experience attracting, retaining and growing engineering talent

The successful candidate will be:
  • Recognized as technical leader both in their company and at an industry level
  • Expert in multiple software languages, frameworks, and solutions
  • Knowledge on multiple domain specific software packages both commercial and open source
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 12+ or more years’ experience Technology delivery and development
  • 10+ or more number of years in Agile delivery methodology
  • 8+ years of direct people management and demonstrated success developing engaged, inclusive teams
  • 7+ years’ experience managing vendor delivery partners
  • Expert knowledge of Java, .NET and React native
