A full-time opportunity is available for a Sr. Process Control Engineer in the Columbus, OH area. In this role the Process Control Engineer develops and maintains control systems (DCS and PLC) for real-time, on-line control of production processes. You will work as a team with operations, maintenance, technical services, environmental, engineering and IT to improve manufacturing efficiencies and quality by applying control system knowledge to minimize variation and reduce costs.

Accountabilities

  • Maintain control systems by providing required configuration changes and routine system backups and by maintaining the necessary documentation and drawings.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and technical service staff by providing control system optimization (e.g., variability reduction, control loop performance monitoring, alarm management), troubleshooting, and technical support.
  • Support Engineering in the design, configuration, checkout, training and startup of capital projects.
  • Work with facility and contract technicians to accomplish the physical portion of tasks.
  • Be a leader in safety and compliance for employees.
  • Initiate and enforce all Company systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Hold self, team members, and all in the facility accountable for their duties, behaviors, and actions.
  • Work with third party service vendors such as ABB.
  • Be available during off hours and weekend on-call rotations.
  • Initiate and complete tasks with minimal direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Paper Science, or equivalent experience.

Associates Degree in automation technology or related field will be considered.

  • Experience implementing controls in a DeltaV, Provox, Foxboro, or equivalent control system in a pulp and paper operation is desired.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers such as Modicon and ControlLogix is desired.
  • Strong interpersonal / customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels within a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong English language skills, including ability to clearly express complex issues.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to absorb new technology and processes quickly.
  • Strong personal computer skills.
  • Candidate must be able to work well with others; teamwork is a daily activity.
