Job Description

Flybridge Staffing is currently looking for a Sr Cloud Data Engineer for one of our clients in the Palm Beach County area. The Sr Cloud Data Engineer’s role requires an aptitude in big data skills working within the Amazon Web Services cloud environment. Required tasks for the role include building, optimizing, and maintaining the company’s advanced analytics platform primarily aligning with the development efforts surrounding various use cases defined by business units across the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with the analysis, data science and development teams to build out the company’s data infrastructure within the cloud using Amazon Web Services
  • Design and Development aspects including designing and creating new data models, data stores, and related objects as part of the analytics data platform
  • Interpret requirements from the business analysis and data science teams to deliver optimal solutions
  • Continuous integration, automation, change control, as well as scalable and performant designs
  • Maintain and enhance existing data pipelines and models within the company’s analytics platform
  • Possess an understanding of mobile and web-based applications and best practices for modeling and integrating data from multiple source systems and across multiple data storage mediums
  • Work effectively across relational and NoSQL databases, Amazon S3 file stores, and cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer/Engineering related discipline, or equivalent experience required
  • Proficient working with various database technologies and diverse data sources within the cloud
  • Strong understanding of database modeling, pipeline development principles and best practices
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple work streams and analyses
  • 5+ years experience working within the data engineering space and complex business environments
  • 5+ years experience working in development environments with both internal and remote teams
  • 3+ years experience working with cloud native and open stack technologies
  • Ability to work with large volumes of streaming data and process through the data pipelines efficiently
  • Proficient with data programming languages and ETL tools (PySpark, Python, YARN on EMR, AWS Glue)
  • Ability to effectively analyze data and ensure data quality and integrity aligning to business requirements
  • Experience working within the Amazon Web Services environment is highly preferred
  • Exposure to or working knowledge of Data Science concepts is a plus
  • Working knowledge of the Snowflake cloud data warehouse platform is a plus

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of best practices and data engineering concepts surrounding cross environment data to enable highly available data access as well as analytics enablement
  • High competency working within Amazon Web Services using RedShift, RDS, Athena, and DynamoDB
  • Experience operating within a data lake architecture, preferably Amazon S3
  • Proficient with data flow process design, advanced data modeling and execution of pipeline development
  • Adept coding/scripting skills using PySpark, particularly interacting with a wide range of data sources, and Python to building pipelines from scratch and integrate with existing, complex pipelines
  • Experience executing spark jobs through YARN on EMR clusters
  • Experience working with the Snowflake cloud data warehouse set up and management is a plus
  • Possesses the aptitude to diagnose and resolve performance issues within the pipeline architecture and its related components when necessary
  • Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills with a high aptitude in problem solving & execution of solutions

Additional Information:

Operating within the Enterprise Data team, this role works closely with the data science and analysis teams to build and maintain optimized and highly available data pipelines that facilitate deeper analysis and reporting to drive the core analytics platform supporting key business decisions, marketing initiatives, and the generation of meaningful insights, as well as integrations into other company platforms.

Tasks for this role will have clearly defined goals, but the paths to the best solutions are often unknown or highly variable. This requires self-directed investigation and an ability to present the team with optional solutions and recommendations; a role ideal for the self-starter who enjoys innovation and has a firm understanding of data engineering best practices and the Amazon Web Services suite of tools.
