Speech Language Pathologist (CFY Welcome)

Salary: $61,000.00 - $91,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed evaluations of resident communication issues, developing and implementing therapy plans as prescribed by their physicians.
  • Coordinate and perform audiometric screenings, referring residents for further audiological evaluation when necessary.
  • Carry out speech-language therapy plans, monitoring progress and maintaining close communication with resident physicians throughout the therapy process.
  • Respect and uphold the rights of all residents, ensuring treatments are performed with kindness and respect.
  • Participate actively in resident care meetings to align speech therapy goals with those of other disciplines.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, maintaining clear statistical reports for Medicare billing.
  • Assist in bringing about positive changes in residents' lives by offering ideas that improve care quality and team satisfaction.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • M.A. or M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • New York State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Show strong personal integrity and the ability to interact diplomatically with residents and colleagues.
  • Must meet the standards of excellence as prescribed by the New York State Department of Health.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
  • Proven experience in a skilled nursing or similar healthcare facility.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing effective speech-language therapy programs.
  • Demonstrable skills in program budget management.
  • Strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of residents.
