Specialized Consultant – Operational Risk

Description

The Investment Management’s Global Risk & Analysis department is looking a consultant, based in New York, in the Operational Risk group. The position will report into an Executive Director of Operational Risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary support/front line for MB Plus vendor management system across IM
    • Coordinate access management, train Vendor Relationship Owners (“VROs”) and Senior Managers and follow up on monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual certification completion
    • Work with VROs to add new vendors and complete associated certifications in the tool
    • Update vendor management procedures
    • Work with VROs on getting invoice related support documents and payment information updated
    • Quality checks on certifications submitted
  • Documentation of risk assessment/risk discussion sessions
  • Quality assurance of Operational Risk data submitted to ORD (various monthly and ongoing data submission requirements)
  • Compilation of routine reports and control report follow-up request letters
  • Back up on risk reports generation

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics or other disciplines demonstrating both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of the financial industry with preference for buy-side experience
  • Strong preference for candidates with hands-on experience in the following areas:
  • Operational Risk
  • Management consulting or internal consulting
  • SSAE 18 or other management control reporting
  • Internal or external audit
  • Compliance
  • Banking / regulatory projects
  • Involvement in/experience with large scale project management, process improvements, or technology implementation

Skills Required:

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including working with cross-functional teams (locally and globally)
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint; MS Access a plus
  • Exceptionally self-motivated, with a high level of initiative
  • High degree of dependability and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks appropriately
  • Licenses such as Series 7 or other certifications are a plus
