Our client located in Melville is looking to hire a Software Product Manager on a direct hire basis. This Software Product Manager position is a full time role and is on site 3 days per week and remote 2 days per week. However, they MAY be back in the office full time but that’s far from a reality at this point in time. The standard hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 4:45pm. This position reports into the GM of Software Systems.

JOB TITLE: Software Product Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Software Product Manager to join our clients team. In this role you would be expected to develop and implement product management for all company software product offerings. Work together with the Department Manager, Technical Managers and Product Teams to define the product vision and implement business plans based on strategic goals and product positioning in the marketplace. Work to implement product introduction schedules, product information management, product planning, and to set product pricing for maximum profit and sales goals attainment. Interact with the Sales Division and end-users to supply technical information/applications knowledge, competitive analysis, and major product feature benefit analysis and other sales related information. Obtain information on current product status, new product trends and requirements, as well as in-depth competitive market analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Includes but not limited to)

  • Define and create the marketing messages for new and existing software offerings.
  • Have a complete understanding of the operation and function of all products within the assigned product group and how they are applied in the market place.
  • Contribute to the company’s Global Software Product Roadmap for future offerings
  • Work with various teams to strategically define the various packages, forecasting and pricing on software products and then effectively communicate this to sales teams
  • Work both independently and with the Marketing Department to develop sales and marketing material such as web site content, product announcements, sales playbooks and other marketing related material.
  • Provide daily support for Operation and Sales Departments related to forecasting, inventory, software orders, packaging and configuration management.
  • Collaborate with the applications, training and support groups to provide technical information such as technical bulletins, how to notes as well as specific content for both in-person and web based training.
  • Engage with and survey customers and other stakeholders to understand their needs
  • Provide feedback on competition, business trends and unique product applications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA in technical or scientific area of study or extensive business/marketing work experience. MBA preferable.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the software life cycle.
  • Experience with software and hardware in light microscopy or similar industry
  • Strong computer skills. Experienced knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Experience with SalesFocrce.com and SAP a plus.
  • Ability to travel overnight (15-20%).
  • Ability to routinely access and visit customer sites
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
  • Ability to work independently under challenging situations (time constraints, etc.).

Salary is based upon experience but the target is $130k-155k plus a complete benefits package.
