Software Engineer (Email System Development)

Job Summary

CNA Search is currently searching for an experienced Software Engineer with Email system development experience to provide our organization and clients with a world class email platform and experience. You will be responsible for the organizations email product development, and support. This will include assisting in new feature development, technical troubleshooting, analytics, daily processes & reporting, working directly with internal stakeholders supporting new business, existing business, and critical customer needs.

Tech Stack

• Visual Studio, DevOps, SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, API, and Office suite.
• Net Web Forms and MVC, WCF, ASMX, SOAP, JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX.
• C# and VB .Net, Classic VB and VB Script.

• Azure DevOps for CI/CD

Primary Duties

• Design, analyze, develop, test, deploy, refactor and support new/existing software solutions with a focus on our proprietary email system.
• Maintains dashboards and reporting to show overall ROI from email channel.
• Strong background and understanding not only of technical email flow but all facets of digital business including media, marketing, web analytics, site optimization, and the evolving interactive marketing landscape.
• Serves as the main technical contact supporting the delivery of client email supported by our internal email platform build, deploy, and track email products including message design, testing, execution and monitoring of the campaign to drive online lead generation.
• Works on a full scrum team contributing new code and reviewing pull requests on projects from start to finish while balancing work from multiple projects simultaneously.
• Participates in technical requirements gathering, technology selection, data modeling, Azure infrastructure design, and DevOps & CI/CD process design with guidance from technical and architecture leadership.
• Develops new applications and features using industry standard best practices.

Requirements

• 6 + years work related experience, B.S. in computer science or information systems fields preferred.
• 4 + years of experience driving email programs, media execution, and analysis for fast paced company.
• 4 + years of experience with database development in the MS SQL Server, stored procedures, and optionally data warehousing, ETL, SSIS, API, SSRS.

• 2+ years of digital marketing experience is required with a deep knowledge of email channel best practices.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment with strong SDLC knowledge.
• Strong working knowledge of ASP.NET (MVC, WebForms), HTML, JavaScript, CSS.
• Azure DevOps for CI/CD.
• API Rest Services.
• Solid experience with Microsoft stack web development (ASP.NET, C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, SQL Server, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).

• Working knowledge of programming languages (including HTML and CSS) for email execution.
• Experience with SendGrid or email products using/partnering with SendGrid.
• Experience with email analytical programs, such as Validity and MXtoobox Pro.
• In-depth knowledge of DNS records that impact email delivery, such as SFP, DKIM and DMARC.
• Proven ability to manipulate large data sets in Excel with little to no oversight needed.
• Email best practices for deliverability, open rate, engagement, etc.
• Experience managing high-volume email programs.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of email marketing and automation platforms.
• Working knowledge of responsive email design and industry email best practices.
• Ability to work in an autonomous environment where you can be a self-directed, independent worker.

• Strong written and oral communication skill with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audience.
• Self-motivated and results oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and independently.

• Demonstratable experience leading and managing email automation platforms.
• Knowledge of email subscriber list best practices including CAN-SPAM laws.

• Familiar with opt-in rules, GDPR, CCPA, etc.

• Experience with email proofing tools.
