About the Role:
A well-established company is looking for a hands-on Software Development Leader to manage a small development team and drive technical projects. This role is hands-on, requiring a balance of leadership and direct software development work. You’ll oversee the development and maintenance of our digital platforms, leveraging modern technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and user experience. The ideal candidate will have strong backend development skills, experience managing cloud-based infrastructure, and the ability to lead projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Guide the development and optimization of core platforms, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
- Hands-On Development: Balance coding responsibilities with leadership, assisting in system architecture and problem-solving.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and oversee a small development team, driving efficiency and collaboration.
- Project Oversight: Own project execution, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with key stakeholders to define technical priorities and drive improvements.
Technical Leadership & Development (50%)
- Lead the development and optimization of our core platforms, including WordPress websites, React.js applications, PHP-based backend services, and MySQL databases.
- Oversee and refine AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and security best practices.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges, optimize system performance, and manage high-traffic events.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends to improve system architecture and development processes.
Team & Project Management (50%)
- Manage and mentor a small engineering team.
- Drive technical project execution, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, marketing, and product teams to define technical requirements and prioritize development efforts.
- Implement agile best practices, optimize workflows, and enhance team productivity.
- Own hiring decisions, onboarding, and training of new team members.
What You Bring to the Team:
- 7+ years of software development experience, with a strong backend focus.
3+ years of leadership experience, managing small teams and development projects.
- Proficiency in:
- Backend: PHP, MySQL, AWS hosting, server optimization
- Frontend: React.js, Next.js, WordPress
- DevOps: Cloud hosting, version control (Git, BitBucket, Jenkins)
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex web applications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, comfortable interfacing with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to balance hands-on coding with team leadership and strategic planning.

- Software Development Expertise – Strong experience in backend development, cloud infrastructure, and modern web technologies.
