Job Summary

The company needs a developer for projects that help the Navy defend our country. Seeking a motivated candidate with experience in Java, databases, and full stack web development that is excited and desiring to stretch into new programming areas. The right candidate is someone with exceptional analytical, design and problem-solving capabilities with strong software engineering skills to help us with new and existing projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

The job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Capturing and refining customer requirements
  • Identifying areas of potential process improvement
  • Participating in and leading the design of software and databases based on customer inputs
  • Rapid prototyping of software to incorporate frequent user feedback
  • Developing software for fielding to sailors, soldiers, and airmen
  • Incorporating DoD-level security into software design and development
  • Incorporating software testing and quality assurance metrics into the development process
  • Working in a team environment with developers, testers, and trainers
  • Assisting in security/acceptance testing
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for users and for support/troubleshooting
  • Acting as a resource for customer service, technical support, and other departments
  • Providing on-site support to customers and staff after system delivery

 

 

Qualifications and Skills

 

 

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or software engineering. Specialized training courses undertaken in access program development or general database system programming is preferred.
  • Should have a minimum of 7 years of technology experience with at least 5 years hands-on technical roles in the field and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Must have a current Secret clearance or a clear history and be willing to obtain a secret clearance through our company.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have a valid/current driver’s license
  • Expertise with Java, SQL, and JavaSrcipt
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Demonstrated conceptual understanding of databases including data structures and data flows
  • Ability to work within a team to meet established project goals
  • Ability to communicate professionally, concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to generate technical but user-friendly procedural documents

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Prior Navy S1, S2, S6 or S8 experience preferred with experience in the Logistics field
  • Experience with MS access, Java development in an Apache web environment and Kofax Capture software experience
  • Ability to manage deliverables during all phases of the product development life cycle
  • Ability to write clear functional specifications from which a programmer can work
  • Ability to work independently and as a member or leader of a team with minimal supervision
