Job Purpose:
To support the Engagement, Social media, Public Relations and Marketing activities of the business with internal/external stakeholders and media platforms. To support the Marketing and PR Consultant in creating and executing strategies that focus on generating interaction with internal and external online content as well as events to build community and boost brand awareness. The purpose of this department is to ensure that every member has a sense of belonging and ownership and that the community (internal or external) creates value for its members.

The successful candidate will be reporting into the Marketing / Public Relations Consultant

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
  • Diploma in Marketing / Public relations or related tertiary qualification
  • Additional studies in Social Media preferable
  • Advanced computer skills, including all Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Email/Outlook) plus Photoshop, Canva and Illustrator
  • Advanced social media management skills including but not limited to platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Fully bilingual in English language skills: Excellent copy/writing and editing skills, verbal and grammar
  • Practical experience with digital visual design such as video or image content using graphic design software
  • Exposure to the BPO Environment would be advantageous
  • Valid Work Permit if from foreign decent

Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management
  • Establish, monitor and grow Surgo's online presence
  • Create and/or update all social media platforms and keep an eye on what others are saying in cyberspace about Surgo
  • Monitor conversations for PR opportunities via social media
  • Coordinate social media monthly content, creating content plans and strategies
  • Set and implement social media and communication campaigns to align with marketing strategies both internally and externally
  • Provide creative input in social media calendar design
  • Provide engaging text, image and video content for social media accounts
  • Serve as a point of contact for the company’s social media platforms
  • Monitor, track, analyse and report on performance metrics on social media platforms such as growth rate; engagement rate; share of voice (SOV); sentiment score; community demographic data; etc
  • Execute, maintain and update media campaigns to drive conversions, increase brand awareness and customer engagement
  • Stay up to date with latest social media best practices and technologies
Internal Communication
  • Promote employee wellness and engagement
  • Increase retention and employee loyalty through brand awareness
  • Assist with email campaigns
  • Assist with design, manage and implementation of year end functions and corporate functions
  • Standardise all internal templates and documentation
  • Monitor and react to communication on internal platforms
  • Liaise with Development, Training and Sales departments to stay updated on new products and features
  • Build relationships with employees through digital channels
  • Provide employees and prospective employees with a positive image of the business, and make it seem relevant, successful and important at all times
External Communication
  • Assist with the conveyance of information from within Surgo to any external audience and media outlet
  • Organise and participate in events to build community and boost brand awareness
  • Build relationships with customers, potential customers, and industry professionals through digital channels
Content Development
  • Prepare documents, (written and electronic) including company newsletters, blogs, speeches and annual reports. Content may also be written for another member of the company, such as a letter to employees from the CEO
  • Work with all other department to ensure all project fits with an overall company message and corporate identity

Working hours:
  • Monday to Friday, 08h00 - 17h00 (overtime may be required – depending operational need)
  • R8,000 – R10,000 CTC per month, depending on the level of experience
