Responsibilities

This position is eligible for remote work opportunities.

Civil Works Oversight

  • Provide on-site technical supervision for installation of foundations, reinforced concrete silos (slip form and shotcrete relining), retaining walls, and other concrete structures.
  • Verify compliance of structural works engineered drawings and specifications. Be able to interpret, understand, and react to codes, standards, and engineering notes.
  • Monitor concrete quality, formwork cycles, reinforcement placement, embed installation, and slip-form operational parameters.
  • Review and validate contractor daily reports, progress measurements, and construction records.
  • Support resolution of site technical issues through coordination with engineering, project management, and contractors.
  • Coordinate field activities with ongoing plant operations to minimize disruptions.

Contractor Coordination & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct daily field inspections and ensure adherence to QA/QC requirements for concrete, steel reinforcement, foundations, and structural works. Ability to understand test reports for slump, density, compressive strength, and other critical tests is required.
  • Verify contractor compliance with construction methodologies, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and quality documentation.
  • Oversee and document inspections for formwork, rebar, foundations, lifts, and concrete pours.
  • Identify non-conformities, support root-cause evaluation, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Monitor subcontractor activity and ensure proper sequencing and interface coordination.

Engineering Support & Documentation Control

  • Review structural drawings, reports, and calculations to ensure constructability and site feasibility.
  • Prepare field reports, inspection logs, and technical notes supporting project documentation requirements.
  • Support engineering revisions by collecting field data, measurements, and photographs.
  • Verify that as-built information is collected and transmitted accurately to engineering teams by installing contractor.

Safety Oversight & Field Compliance

  • Ensure that civil works are executed in compliance with safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard identification activities.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and escalate unsafe conditions immediately.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Planners, Procurement, Quality/Procedures, and Plant Engineering teams.
  • Support cost and progress verification for civil activities through field measurements and documentation.
  • Participate in constructability assessments and risk evaluations for civil/structural scopes.
  • Provide field intelligence to improve design, mitigate risks, and support schedule and cost planning.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, with at least 3–5 years on active industrial or major civil construction sites, such as industrial plants, dams, spillways, or other construction types requiring significant concrete works.
  • Direct experience with slip-form concrete construction is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of reinforced concrete structures, industrial foundations, and heavy civil construction methods.
  • Experience supervising contractors, conducting QA/QC inspections, and reviewing engineering documentation.
  • Experience with ITPs, concrete testing, rebar inspection, and geotechnical site interfaces.
  • Industry background in cement, power, steel, mining, or petrochemical construction is an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 60–80% of the time, including extended site assignments.
  • ACI/AASHTO Field Technician Certifications are preferred but not required.
  • General understanding of mechanical and structural steel installation is helpful, and the ability to interface with other disciplines is preferred.

Core Competencies

  • Strong technical and analytical skills in civil/structural engineering.
  • Ability to work independently on construction sites while coordinating with remote teams.
  • High attention to detail and ability to enforce quality and safety standards.
  • Effective communication and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to interface with and maintain good relationships with project stakeholders is key.
  • Strong organizational discipline and ability to manage multiple field activities in parallel.
  • Commitment to safety and quality in all construction activities.
