Simulator Training Specialist
SIMULATOR TRAINING SPECIALIST
MONTGOMERY, AL
This specialist is primarily responsible for conducting driving simulator training to members. Training will be conducted at various locations throughout the state focusing on safety sensitive positions that drive county vehicles and law enforcement personnel for counties in Alabama.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Prepare driving simulator lessons that are tailored to the members needs using loss frequency analysis
- Provide instruction on the parts and functions of a vehicle, and on-road regulations
- Teach practical skills related to all aspects of driving
- Provide instruction on gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations
- Monitor and evaluate the student's performance during various scenarios; provide constructive feedback at the conclusion of each exercise
- Review the overall class objective at the beginning and at the end of the training session
- Maintain training participant rosters, class evaluations, curriculum handouts, and certificates of course completion
- Practice driving the various simulator scenarios on a regular basis
- Communicate with the Director regarding operational issues
- Develop and update the Program's various driving courses to meet current loss trends and traffic safety trends
- Serve as a liaison with the driving simulator manufacture representatives regarding repair issues
- Maintain necessary equipment related to the driving simulator. This includes but is not limited to: checking vehicle engine fluid levels, tires for wear and for proper inflation levels, and wheel lug nuts are properly torqued; maintaining an adequate supply of oil, brake fluid, and antifreeze for servicing the training vehicle and trailer; and ensuring training vehicle and trailer are clean
- Assist the team as requested with conducting physical inspections of County operations, property, plant and equipment
- Assist Underwriting with risk evaluation, exposure and controls
- Maintain working knowledge of Federal, State and other pertinent codes and regulations applicable to Workers’ Compensation, Property, and Liability lines of coverage
- Travel requirements 45 to 50%, mainly within the state of Alabama
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or associated field from an accredited college or university preferred
- Professional certifications preferred
- At least one year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Basic level of technical insurance knowledge and competence
- Basic understanding of coverage issues
- Basic understanding of risk management controls
- Strong written and oral communication skills desired
- Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Ability to work without supervision and begin projects independently
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and follows through on overall directives outlined by leadership
- Ability to present material to a variety of audiences at meetings, conferences and training sessions
- Valid driving license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Required to move or transport equipment or boxes
- Required at times to climb stairs, ladders,
- Required at times to file, stand, reach, kneel or squat
- Required to drive for extended periods of time
