1.To accomplish scheduled production inventory turns and shipments from the yard at the lowest possible cost.
a. Ensure that all outgoing scrap meets established customer quality specifications and ensure that all incoming scrap meets specifications and is suitable for processing.
b. Report any operating equipment not in good order to the General Manager. Also, recommend new methods, procedures, and equipment designed to reduce yard operating costs.
c. Direct maintenance in required P.M.'s.
d. Coordinate all shredder shut-downs with appropriate personnel and managers to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
e. Complete required production reports.
f. Plan production scheduling and staffing requirements to fulfill customers orders and maintain target inventory turns.
2.To train and supervise work crew and accomplish a Team Effort.
a. Cross train employees in the yard operations, that in the event of absenteeism, there is enough back up to perform normal production.
b. Recommend changes in the crew size when appropriate.
c. Review with the General Manager periodically, the performance of all hourly paid employees.
d. To develop and enforce safe working practices. Recommend to General Manager methods of ensuring safe operations of the yard and modifications to improve safety.
e. Perform safety meetings and related training. Ensure proper housekeeping and safe working conditions.
f. Regularly check plant grounds and equipment for proper working conditions and machinery operation.
g. Report all accidents to the General Manager and fill out all required accident reports promptly.
SHREDDER MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Enforces company safety rules inclusive of personal safety compliance. Ensure safe working conditions and practices are followed in the yard. Ensure all operating equipment is in good condition and notifies maintenance supervisor of any problems. Overall leadership of corporate safety plan in areas under direct report inclusive of accident reporting, accident investigation, safety training, and any related compliance issues. Coordinates with Human Resources regarding corrective actions for safety policy violations.
2.Assign and direct the hourly employees in making repairs, service, and maintenance of yard equipment. Instructing and training personnel as required with regard to job skills and safe workplace practices.
3.Keep the General Manager informed of the status of any equipment in the shop for a major or planned repair (scheduled or unscheduled).
4.Responsible for staying in contact with the appropriate supervisor when the status changes on a piece of equipment.
5.Responsible for expediting repairs in an emergency situation and keeping the appropriate supervisor or General Manager informed.
6.Manages equipment shutdowns to get the job done in a timely manner.
7.Responsible for writing and closing work orders for hourly employees on a daily basis.
8.Maintain records of yard equipment, breakdowns, PM schedule.
9.Responsible for ensuring the hourly employees maintain the work area/equipment in a clean and orderly fashion at all times.
