Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Terminal Manager for a multi-state, family-owned, transportation provider offering truckload, dedicated, warehousing & brokerage solutions. The company is equipped with 530 trucks, 2225 trailers, and 730 employees, operating from 7 terminals across the Midwest.

The Shop Service Manager is responsible for managing equipment repair and maintenance for a 2 bay shop with a staff of 3 mechanics & 3 lane techs. Provides technical support and training to shop employees. Directs and guides shop execution of key factor measurements. Ensures maintenance procedures are followed, check quality, and ensure the company is receiving the best value. Hires and professionally develops mechanics, and other . Certifies shop strategic direction and operations are in line with overall business unit, company goals, and values. Review financial results to determine where and what adjustments, priorities, and focus must be given to maximize business results. Guarantees the shop receives, understands, and follows all service bulletins and updates impacting shop performance and maximizing equipment availability. Prepares budget projections based on known and projected volume. Identifies and plans maintenance-driver services capacity requirements, determining the skill mix of associates necessary to maximize shop efficiency and cost effectiveness. Monitor company shop utilization with the goal of maximizing work completed in the shop. Confirms the shop execution of scheduled PM's, proper work priority, and express service. Maintains a clean facility, reporting repairs as needed, and manage the cost to maintain the facility.

Background Required:
  • Maintenance management (3 years)
  • Recruited, trained & mentored technicians
  • Established internal maintenance practices & procedures (KPI’s)
  • Regular preventative maintenance compliance - RPM
  • Parts management, procurement & warranty
  • Equipment breakdown process
  • Computer literate (i.e. MS Office, TMS)
  • Location: Glenwood, IL
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Class A CDL
  • Vendor relations and negotiations
  • TMT software (i.e. Transman)
  • Spec’ing of equipment
  • Education: BA, BS, or Technical Degree
