This job is in the Plant family (department), which includes positions responsible for performing the work of receiving, processing, storing, & distributing of metal.

Job Functions

  • Generally responsible for completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions
  • Responsible for moving inventory or equipment, filling customer orders, pulling material from racks, unloading incoming material, loading trucks and/or customer vehicles, & helping maintain the upkeep of the warehouse
  • Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations
  • Pulls and assembles orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation
  • Tags material for proper identification and completes all required documentation
  • Moves material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane
  • Operates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers
  • Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
  • Sorts and places material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code
  • Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed
  • Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction
  • Restocks material
  • May occasionally drive motor vehicle (non-DOT truck) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
  • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds repetitively.
  • Ability to stand for sustained periods of time
  • Ability to push or pull 80 pounds of force
  • Ability to go up and down off truck trailers repeatedly
  • Employee is subject to temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F and below 32 degrees F
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers

1st Shift - 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
2nd Shift 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
3rd shift - 9:30 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. (Sun - Thurs) *1 opening
