This job is in the Plant family (department), which includes positions responsible for performing the work of receiving, processing, storing, & distributing of metal.
Job Functions
- Generally responsible for completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions
- Responsible for moving inventory or equipment, filling customer orders, pulling material from racks, unloading incoming material, loading trucks and/or customer vehicles, & helping maintain the upkeep of the warehouse
- Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations
- Pulls and assembles orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation
- Tags material for proper identification and completes all required documentation
- Moves material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane
- Operates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers
- Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
- Sorts and places material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code
- Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed
- Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction
- Restocks material
- May occasionally drive motor vehicle (non-DOT truck) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups
- Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards
- All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- High School diploma/GED preferred.
- Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
- Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly
- Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
- Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment
- Ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds repetitively.
- Ability to stand for sustained periods of time
- Ability to push or pull 80 pounds of force
- Ability to go up and down off truck trailers repeatedly
- Employee is subject to temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F and below 32 degrees F
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers
1st Shift - 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
2nd Shift 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
3rd shift - 9:30 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. (Sun - Thurs) *1 opening
