Job Description

Typical day:

  • Examine package contents and compare records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify the accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments
  • Prepare shipping documents such as work orders and bills of lading to route materials
  • Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping
  • Determine shipping method using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, damages, discrepancies
  • Deliver or route materials to departments
  • Correspond with purchasing to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non-conformances to specs
  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock
  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
  • On occasion, drive to customers/vendors to deliver or pick up products
  • Other related duties as assigned

Skills & Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 1-2 years prior shipping and receiving as well as forklift experience
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stretch, move boxes or individual products
  • Strong communication skills and time management
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Clean driving record to occasionally deliver or pick up products
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) require that applicants are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer and do not require sponsorship for an employment visa now or in the future
