Sheet Metal Estimator

A top Newmarket area mechanical contractor is currently looking to add an experienced Sheet Metal Estimator to the team! Ideally, you will have experience estimating sheet metal as it relates to HVAC, and you will also have the opportunity to learn misalliance metals and metal structure pricing. This group is extremely supportive and organized. You will not only be supported by the technology required but also the organization.

The team has in-depth experience with all types of heating, cooling, ventilation, and air handling systems. They are fully prepared to improve, modify, and replace an existing air handling situations with additional extensive experience in Water, Structural and other building operations.

-Design/Engineer/Build

-Design a build engineered structures to suit your needs

-HVAC and Exhaust systems

-Welding (TIG, MIG/ARC)

-Canadian Welding Bureau certified welders to meet all of your structural needs.

-General Maintenance

The role of Sheet Metal Estimator is to prepare accurate tender prices from the available information such as drawings and specifications. Tenders include lump sum, guaranteed maximum price format or unit rate pricing. The estimator will be responsible to prepare, record and maintain pricing, ensure accuracy of the take off, and assist the management team in the ongoing pursuit and acquisition of new work. Experience working with sheet metal, including within the field considered an asset.

Qualifications:

-Knowledge of Sheet Metal estimating and willing to learn misalliance metals and structure pricing.

-Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology or other relevant technology field

- Experience with practical and successful experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for construction projects.

-Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents.

Overview of Responsibilities:

-Performing quantity takeoffs including entry into the computer estimating system.

-Reviewing all bid documents to ensure all bid requirements are met.

-Assemble all elements of an estimate including a lead sheet to summarize all the elements.

-Preparing bid forms and submissions for a tender call or proposal.

-Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads a profit.

-Provides detailed labor breakdowns for each area to assist with budget creation and management of project.

-Applies technical experience to interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings.

-Assists in the development of estimating plan to establish estimate/proposal strategies.

-Attends and participates in site-visits, pre-bid meeting and post-bid meeting as required.
