Sheet Metal Estimator

A top mechanical contractor in the Newmarket area is currently looking to add an experienced Sheet Metal Estimator to the team! As the Sheet Metal Estimator, you will work within the team to prepare for, assemble and submit tender prices for various projects of all sizes and scope. This group is extremely supportive and organized. The team will not only support you, but you will also what the newest technology required to get the job done right!

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

-2-5 years of sheet metal estimating as it related to ICI building projects related to HVAC and other.

-Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience in using AutoCAD.

-Understanding of SMACNA and Sheet Metal Construction Standards and ability to identify conflicts on drawings during the estimate phase of the project

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Performing quantity takeoffs including entry into the computer estimating system.

-Reviewing all bid documents to ensure all bid requirements are met.

-Assemble all elements of an estimate including labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.

-Preparing bid forms and submissions for a tender call or proposal.

-Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads a profit.

-Present bid package with tender price for clients following their specifications.

-Participates in the presentation of estimates/proposals to senior management.

-Attends and participates in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-bid meetings as required.

Position Summary:

The Estimator will be responsible to prepare, record, and maintain pricing and assist the management team in the ongoing pursuit and acquisition of construction projects. Through the development of the estimate, the Estimator sets the basis for the projects teams’ success by breaking the project into logical areas with labour and cost breakdowns.
