Settlement Attorney – Maryland

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Settlement Attorney to join a team in Maryland. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting real estate settlements, reviewing and clearing title issues, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented legal professional with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct residential and commercial real estate closings, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
• Review and analyze title commitments, resolve title defects, and coordinate with title underwriters.
• Draft and review settlement statements, loan documents, and other legal instruments.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws and regulations.
• Provide legal guidance to clients, lenders, realtors, and other parties involved in transactions.
• Manage post-closing procedures, including recording documents and disbursing funds.
• Maintain professional relationships with lenders, realtors, and other industry partners.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Maryland Bar license (required).
• Experience in real estate transactions, title insurance, or settlement services preferred.
• Strong understanding of Maryland real estate laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in settlement software (e.g., SoftPro, ResWare, Qualia) is a plus.
