Job Description

Service/Installation Engineer

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:
The leading supplier of paint robots and robotic paint application equipment in North
America. As a Paint Service/Installation Engineer, you will install, test, and/or implement state-of-the art
robotic painting solutions for general industry, heavy truck, and automotive tier suppliers. Your
responsibilities include a combination of robot installation, site management, system commissioning,
robot programming, and onsite support. You will work with other members of the Auto Component and
Industrial Paint (ACP) group on projects involving the installation and implementation of paint robot
solutions at end-user facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Install, startup, and debug of the system/unit being installed. Support the installation through buyoff
and customer acceptance.
 Teach, modify, and fine tune robot paths and programs.
 Provide prompt, professional, and courteous solutions to customer problems.
 Process any and all necessary paperwork and provide the customer with detailed descriptions of
the problem(s) encountered.
 Provide technical support to customers and various parts including Hotline, training
segments.
 Provide training to customer, and other team members.
 Coordinate responsibilities, activities, parts, and schedule with Engineering Manager, Project
Manager, and project team members as appropriate to ensure customer satisfaction, and the
completion of service calls or projects.
 Follow Engineering Guidelines and other standardized procedures to comply with product
specifications, laws, and regulations.
 Reliable, consistent attendance required.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
 Assist during lab demonstrations to develop new products and/or application solutions.
 Support ACP quoting and sales efforts by performing reach studies and simulations.
 Assist in process improvement.
 Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
 Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on satisfying the customer.
 Must be conversant in at least two of the following areas: electrical, electronic, computer science,
pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC, or mechanical. Must have the ability to read and interpret prints
and related technical documentation.
 Ability to analyze and solve service, engineering, and robot installation problems.
 Ability to work in a highly autonomous environment.
 Must be able to perform intricate repairs of mechanical and electrical items.

2. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
 Associate degree or equivalent technical education, Bachelor degree preferred.
 Minimum of three years experience working in a related environment.

3. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY
 Must be able to stand for long periods.
 Must be able to lift 50-70 lbs.
 Must be able to perform work on equipment mounted in often hard to access locations within an
industrial facility.
